The Amazing Sessions - the world's best independent acts live in our studio

---

Over the next two weeks we'll be highlighting the incredible live sessions featured on Simon Raymonde's Amazing Radio show. Former Cocteau Twin, head of indie label Bella Union and Amazing Radio presenter, Simon has invited some of the best new artists to his studio to play live. Amongst them are the hazy psychedelia of Pinkunoizu, Manchester's brightest hopes M O N E Y and today's feature Jesca Hoop.

Born into a Mormon family in northern California, Jesca Hoop has, in her own words, lived much of her life 'as a racoon'. She would hone her songcraft in the wilderness, whilst rambling or farming and performing to small audiences on front porches and around campfires.

Jesca Hoop now finds herself on the release of her third album, The House That Jack Built, recording in LA and residing in Manchester, UK. The American homestead influence remains strong and laces itself throughout the album. It feels feels warm and organic. Her voice has depth and power at its high points and delicacy and poise at its most intimate.

Simon Raymonde invited her to his studio to record a session where she stripped the grandiose record down to its most bare. With simply Jesca's voice and an acoustic guitar you get a sense of just how pure and rich her song-writing is. She performed three tracks from The House The Jack Built including the title track, Hospital and Amazing Radio favourite, Born To.
