Divard is the new music project from David Elliott (former Prophecy and Ethos lead guitarist). The idea behind Divard is to create accessible, straight forward, melodic rock music. David started playing guitar when he was fourteen. A close school mate had just started playing drums and, with visions of rock glory, needed a guitarist to join him. One thing led to another and before he knew it David was having guitar lessons. After about six months and numerous conversations cajoling other mates to play bass, keyboards and sing, the school rock band was formed. After some poor showings at open evenings and the school play, the band disbanded. Undeterred by this slow start, David decided to go to Music College. During this period the beginnings of his first band developed. After finding a second guitarist, changing drummers, advertising for a vocalist and kidnapping a bass player, Prophecy was formed. The next task was to write material. Prophecy had a strong belief that the only way forward was to write all original tracks. After spending about six months solidly writing they had there first ever gig at the now defunct Saxon Rock Club in South East London. After a further 4 years of ever improving success on the local circuit Prophecy finally split, citing the legendary reason of musical differences. With the shell of Prophecy (drums, bass and one guitar) still intact, the band moved on. After further changes in line-up Ethos was born. More writing took place and within a short time Ethos was ready to present its new material. Supporting recently signed group Dirty Tricks, Ethos opened at both The London Marquee and The London Astoria. However, with such an auspicious start things inevitably took a downturn and in 2000 the group faded away. It was at this point David concluded that the ‘band thing’ always seemed to end in disappointment. With this in his mind he set about going it alone. After various false starts Divard is end result. Again, David has opted to stay with his belief of writing original material the main difference being this is a solo project.
