ARTIST Tomokiyo

Tomokiyo

Tomokiyo is one part half-Japanese singer/bass player Dan Moriyama, one part motorcycle racing-mad drummer Pat Levett and one part abstract architect by day/enigmatic rocker by night guitarist Rob Updegraff. Dan and Pat have played music together for several years in various different bands, including early incarnations of Tomokiyo. Rob has only very recently returned to the guitar after a serious repetitive strain injury forced him to stop playing for several years, and came back in 2008 just in time to save the day and give the band direction, impetus and a new lease of life when the previous guitarist left after getting a girlfriend. Tomokiyo play live regularly in and around London, venues including The Macbeth, The Bull & Gate, and run their own monthly live music night, Tsuji-Giri Club, at The Good Ship.

Influences: Jimi, Bowie, Cream, StevieW, KingsOfLeon, TheBand, Joni, Sly, WhiteStripes, Police, BeachBoys, Beatles, Prince, LedZep, RHCP, Emmylou, VanTheMan, TheGossip, MuddyWaters.
