TUNE Angela Fletcher - Getting Late
This song was based on a short conversation I had with my mother. She was about 70 at the time, and was in a sort of melancholy/bitter mood. She made a comment something like, 'do you think I wanted my life to be like this ?' - that she had not done as much in her life as she would have liked. I think she must have used the phrase, 'getting late' - rather than me just coming up with it myself. In any case, the song is about her life, and in turn, all of our lives - about getting on with our lives and doing the best with them - living them how we want them to be, and if we want to change things, then getting on with it and trying to make those changes - rather than wingeing that things aren't as we would like them to be. Although it may come cross as perhaps a sad song, my intention is that it should be inspirational - its getting late - so … what are you waiting for - get on with it !!
I know how you feel about getting older. I'm 38 and although I'm quite young for my age, I do wish I'd been able to get going on my life sooner. I'm doing a lot of classical piano and guitar practise and improving my playing though and I'm gradually catching up with lost time.
Like this very much and enjoyed reading your biog - very strange because I dusted off my copy of Feel the Fear recently. Paul McKenna book and CDs helped me a couple of years ago - have you tried any of his? Finally, I'm honoured that you have listened and seen something in my music - I'm very happy that I can reciprocate....Phil x
