TUNE Anthony Moore - Room Service
After the release of ‘Working Madman Blues’ and ‘When I Think Of You’ earlier this year, Glasgow native Anthony Moore has stepped forward into the role of a crooning raconteur with his new single ‘Room Service’. Opening with a dramatic orchestra crescendo, ‘Room Service’ then drops into a piano ballad reminiscent of early 70’s Billy Joel before we’re taken on a stunning journey through to a gospel choir peak, which could undoubtedly appear in Kanye West’s personal catalogue of samples. With his sincere vocal delivery and an obvious knack for conjuring up colourful, lyrical images, he leaves the listener feeling like they’re at the centre of this vivid, melancholy story.
‘Room Service is about that single moment of clarity when you realise a relationship is over. I think we often find that moment is usually a mundane one, rather than some kind of throwing-plates-against-the-wall argument’ Anthony said, ‘In this particular situation, you’re in a hotel room and it becomes apparent the person you’re with would rather gorge themselves out on a room service macaroni cheese than spend the night with you. That’s when the lightbulb moment strikes and you think to yourself “fuck, it’s been so obvious the whole time” which inevitably lead me to the line “if you had to choose between room service and me, you’d probably choose room service every time”.
