Árný is an Icelandic singer, songwriter and lyricist. Born and raised in a town of less than 500 people she spent her nights on the living room floor listening to Icelandic folk and pop female voices attempting to imitate their beautiful sounds. Her interest in songwriting appeared much later, writing her first song at the age of 20. She released her first full length album, See Through, at the end of May 2018. The music may be described as a subtle blend of acoustic and electronic elements. Árný's captivating performance entwines vulnerability and strength, a battle mirrored in her lyrics which are written about the struggle to overcome inner barriers and allowing oneself to be vulnerable.
The album's first single, Nowhere I'd Rather Be, was released in November followed by Higher early this year. Both songs stayed in the Top 20 for weeks on Iceland’s highest rated radio station and the former also got airplay on the British radio station Amazing Radio. Her songs have reached Spotify playlists such as Iceland Viral 50, Icelandic Indie Music and Easy Indie and Alternative.
