TUNE Miro Shot - Boston Dynamic
Global music, art and technology collective Miro Shot follow up their debut single ‘Leaders In A Long Lost World’ with new single ‘Boston Dynamic,’ out on the 5th April.
Following on from the energetic electronic beats of debut single ‘Leaders In A Long Lost World,’ new single ‘Boston Dynamic’ sees Miro Shot enlisting the 65-piece Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra to perform on the track, arranged by BAFTA winning composer Alexander Parsons. Coupled with pulsing synths and dual vocals from Miro Shot members Roman Rappak and Hinako Omori, the propulsive and hypnotic overtures of ‘Boston Dynamic’ looks set to propel Miro Shot to the forefront of the modern UK music scene.
Once again the collective have delivered a state-of-the-art video to accompany the track, with NASA and the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies Dynamic Systems Lab - both contributing to the video, alongside emerging filmmakers from Buenos Aires, Brooklyn-based graphic designers and technologists from Wales, alongside established artists including Beeple (who has worked with the likes of Flying Lotus and the NFL) and illustrator/artist Oliver Harud.
The visual for the song continues the themes explored in the track – a duet about AI/digital realities and technology in the modern world that bring people closer together and often push them apart. It features hand drawn animation, CGI, motion tracking, archive footage of the birth of silicon valley as well as the recent riots in Paris juxtaposed with the football celebrations on those same streets.
Speaking of the video, Roman Rappak of Miro Shot said: “I’m really happy with the technique and look we’ve evolved for the project. It is about remix culture, collaboration, mixed media and tech, so the process involves a lot of resampling and reworking footage, inspired by the ‘Hypernormalisation’ documentary and Adam Curtis’s style in general. Feeding stuff back into computers over and over until it starts meaning something else. The idea was to create something which illustrated the song's themes of relationships mediated through technology.
He continues: “‘Boston Dynamic’ is a song about online communities, gaming culture and being committed to a cause. It’s about all the good and bad things that come with being part of something.”
