TUNE Blushes - Not A Chance
This scenario is more or less of a dude that thinks he is the bees knees, the dogs... but this narcissism is his downfall. In this scenario he is approaching a girl, which doesn’t seem to be out of the norm for this character, yet she has seen it all before and is having none of it. He felt no need to plan ahead and saw this as a case of having his cake and eating it, she was soon to take the cake away from him, but he had already latched onto the ‘taste’ of the cake (girl) as he is not used to his ‘flawless’ plan failing. This leaves him shocked and not sure what to do with
himself as he has never been turned away like this before. The first half of the chorus is of
the dude almost reciting what he normally would say to a girl he tries it with but then in the
second half of the chorus you get her response and it isn’t quite what he is used to.
A lot like some other tracks by Blushes, instrumentally this song has the bass notes of the
chorus chords, played in the verse as well, but with layering of lead guitar lines and a dif-
ferent drum beat it still sounds new. The synth bass keeps a certain ‘bounce’ going in the
verses and this is doubled up with one of the guitars playing alongside the synth bass. With
a few nice jazz style chords thrown in the mix for good measure and the four vocals all being
heard at certain points of the track it keeps that developed ‘Blushes’ feel to the song but
sways more towards an R&B vibe.
