Since playing their first ever gig at the beginning of 2011, Collectors Club have taken their feel good, summery, indie-pop on the road all over the UK, sharing stages with the likes of Mystery Jets, Pigeon Detectives, Pete and the Pirates, Jake Bugg, Mona, The Crookes, Polarsets, Little Comets and Goldheart Assembly along the way.
In July 2011 they were selected for a slot on the coveted BBC Introducing Stage at Scotland’s T In The Park, which led to their first Radio 1 play courtesy of Ally McCrae and further festival appearances followed with performances at Middlesbrough’s Intro Festival and The Stockton Weekender, where they played on the main stage just before Newton Faulkner and Seasick Steve of all people!
Hailing from a variety of small towns on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors such as Castleton, Guisborough, Saltburn, Skelton and Great Ayton, the band originally formed merely as a way to pass the time on their lunch breaks at 6th Form College. However, after one of their demos found its way to former DARTZ! guitarist Henry Carden and BBC Tees presenter Bob Fischer, things started taking off in ways that the band never expected.
After a brilliant 2011, 2012 kicked off with lead singer/songwriter Joe Smithson being invited down to Maida Vale and Abbey Road for the BBC Introducing Masterclass. With a strong and passionate local following already in place, it’s only a matter of time before the rest of the UK join the club…
