Seven years since going it alone, Daisy has proved herself as a talented and shrewd songwriter in demand. Two albums have been recorded by renowned producer Ali Chant at Toybox Studios (PJ Harvey, Gruff Rhys, Giant Sand, Seasick Steve) including her latest release, “Shameless Winter”.
Daisy’s powerful vocals have been used by the likes of John Parish, for his film work, as well as a handful of TV session work. Her piano style and versatility was noticed by UK prog rockers Crippled Black Phoenix (Mascot Records), and for two years Daisy travelled as pianist/BVs with the band on tours covering every corner of Europe as well as a short trip to China. Daisy was also chosen as vocalist on their cover of ACDC’s “Let Me Put My Love Into You” which was used in Classic Rock Magazine’s cover CD – a stark departure from her wistful singing style, proving her adaptability in musical genres.
Daisy has supported well known artists such as Howe Gelb, Karima Francis and Jane Taylor as well as booked her own tours in the US and Poland, not to mention label tours across Germany, twice a year since 2009. Two studio albums followed suit, one of which (The Green Eyed, 2009) won an Independent Music Award which then secured her slots at Britain’s leading festivals Glastonbury, Wychwood and 2000 Trees.
Daisy's music is well travelled. Germany has welcomed her across the channel countless times, not to mention a brief Californian tour where Daisy graced the corners of coffee houses up and down the Highway 1. Daisy has recorded vocals with The John E. Vistic Experience, as well as supported the likes of Howe Gelb and Karima Francis on some of their UK shows. In 2010, Daisy was awarded an International Independent Music Award in the Cover Song category for her beautiful rendition of Rihanna's 'Umbrella'. Closer to home, Daisy has performed at festivals, both indoors and out, and can also be spotted on stage as the pianist in Crippled Black Phoenix.
Dubbed as 'Amazingly successful' in a recent issue of Rolling Stone magazine, Daisy Chapman's solo career has gone from strength to strength. Combining effortless vocals with Nymanesque piano and lyrics not for the faint hearted, Chapman's set could be seen as a sombre affair. However these delicate intricacies and melancholia teamed with her powerhouse pop and classic songwriting offers the listener a spell-binding show, not to be missed.
Daisy is signed to Folkwit Records (UK) and Sings & Whispers (Germany)
