TUNE Christy - On My Mind
At 24, Christy O’Donnell has already lived out several unlikely dreams. He’s busked the streets of Glasgow making £400 a day. He’s been in a boy band, Supernova (“Busted meets One Direction – the music was terrible”); he’s even climbed Arthur’s Seat with Rufus Wainwright… But beneath the young Glaswegian’s many incarnations is a serious musician about to unleash his first EP.
Reminiscent of his hiking friend Rufus, Jeff Buckley or fellow Scot Paolo Nutini, Christy is offering a sincere look into his musical DNA with first single "On My Mind". It is in part his homage to Buckley’s "Mama You’ve Been On My Mind": “Tell me why our twenties fly, and then the comedown makes us cry” he reflects.
Written with Benjamin Francis Leftwich, the song’s delicate guitar track lifts through surprising chord changes, as though mirroring the singer’s change in mood, as he tries repeatedly to block his loved one out of his mind, then remembers her painfully when the sun goes down.
