Thrown together at random, Flat 29 decided to write a song about soup and the music hasn’t really stopped since then. Instead more people have joined, the sounds have expanded and music has flowed from each individual, culminating in pop-goodness the likes of which has been missing for quite some time. Dropping subverted lyrical stanzas like bombs over catchy hooks and sparkling melodies through quirky singles and surreal live performances, Flat 29 have spread musical tales through the country about a group of people and their trials and tribulations in daily life. Covering Hip-Hop to Pop and Folk to Rock n Roll, the narratives are strong. Whether it be battling fire alarms, watching ‘Neighbours’ or simply wondering whether they should go shopping, these modern folk Heroes bring stories for the common man to the forefront. From their first live performance culminating in a 30 person sing-a-long through the streets of Liverpool to their widely praised selection of Christmas Classics, the music of Flat 29 is infectious, bringing smiles to the faces of those who hear it.
There are no angst ridden ballads or hidden social agenda; just songs that bring a melody to your lips, a tear to your eye and a puts a spring in your step. This band is about having fun and reminding people pleasure can be derived from the most everyday of events.
Pretty much everything we have ever heard forced into a three and a half minute jaunt.
