Groovy Uncle originally began as an online platform to showcase the talents of Medway based songwriter Glenn Prangnell via some home demos. He hooked up with State Records late 2009 where he recorded and released the first Groovy Uncle record (on vinyl), "Monkey Trousers"/"Now Your Pain Is Over" in March 2010. The following months saw Glenn in the studio with a bunch of talented buddies, pals and mates (the first GU line-up) to record the debut album "Play Something We Know!". This was also released on vinyl in March 2011, again on State Records. Having met Cardiff based vocalist Suzi Chunk, Glenn was already toying with the idea of asking her to guest on the follow up GU album. The whole album turned out to be Suzi's and, after releasing her single "Look Back And Laugh"/"Tripwire" in April 2012 (Red vinyl), State Records put out her debut album (GU's second) "Girl From The Neck Down" in September that year. One year later in 2013 the band issued "One Vowel Away From The Truth"-this time on their own label, Trouserphonic. The summer of 2014 saw the release of the surf sounding single "Barefoot In The Car Park"/"Wet Weekend" (State), a taster from the October 2014 released album "Persuaded". A very "cinematic" sounding album, this one features a second female vocalist in the form of Sarah Kennedy (aka Miss Modus).
