Imagine M83 giving birth to the surrogate child of Radiohead and Sigur Ros. Wolverhampton’s electronic/indie four-piece Silhouettes’ music is dark and acerbic, yet hopeful and tender.
At their live shows, expect a cleansing wash of swirling delays, cavernous reverbs, fizzing synth, nostalgic beats and aching strings.
Silhouettes formed in 2009, honing their complex, emotional sound before releasing two EPs: Paint Me As You See Me (2010) and Himself.Unknown.Too Late (2012).
Influenced lyrically by Bukowski and Nick Cave and sonically by the likes of John Grant, Massive Attack and Bon Iver, Silhouettes twist and turn from haunting pin-drop falsetto sparseness to pumping Moroder-esque synth pop with a beat and swagger to match their fashionable Midlands neighbours in B-Town.
Signed to UK independent Integrity Records in late 2013, Silhouettes released “Gold Tag” on 25th November.
New single "Prufrock's Dream" (19th May) precedes the band's debut album “Ever Moving Happiness Machines” (2nd June).
