TUNE KYOTI - Citadel
itadel is a track which we feel really sums up the KYOTI aesthetic - a confessional singer-songwriter topline, jazz harmony and rhythms, and topped off with epic soaring synths. As with much of KYOTI’s output, this song considers both personal issues and broader political ideas. In the turbulent times we are currently living through it can be so easy to shut ourselves off. Rather than engage with what is going on around the world and in society - be it climate change, homelessness, or mental health issues - instead we seek comfort and shelter with those closest to us.
The lyrics speak of that special kind of friendship where you can share every intimate detail about yourself without fear of judgement and avoiding relationships where you are forced to behave in ways you do not like. The “citadel” is that sense of security you get when protected and appreciated by people you love and who also love you in return.
