TUNE Public Service Broadcasting - ROYGBIV (Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet)
'Absolutely, sensationally brilliant'
Tom Robinson, 6Music
Public Service Broadcasting are on a mission, to inform, educate and entertain with the release of their debut single ROYGBIV (Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet) - celebrating the birth of colour television.
Taking samples from old public information films and setting them to new music, J. Willgoose, Esq. and his drumming companion Wrigglesworth teach the lessons of the past through the music of the future.
Public Service Broadcasting's unique live AV show fuses guitar, drums and banjo with laptop and electronics to a backdrop of samples from public information films from the 40's and 50's screened on a vintage TV set. Musically they blend the guitar and electronic elements of experimental bands like Errors with the speech-driven narratives of leftfield legends like Lemon Jelly & the Avalanches.
The single features B-side 'Lit Up', which samples a famous recording from the Royal Review of the British naval fleet in 1937. The band will be taking this theme a step forward in time on their second release in May, which will focus on archive material and propaganda films from World War II.
ROYGBIV is set for release on 4th March 2012 on Test Card Recordings.
