IT IS WRITTEN.
In the North East of England, there is a city much like any other. On the edge of this city, where the lights shine less bright, an old building hides a universal truth. Pass through a simple door, walk along an ordinary corridor and stop. Room 15. There is no significance to this number; it is just the number that chose the door. Open the door. Turn on the light. On the walls, in letters that strain to equal the grandness of their collective, three words are written. Three words that live with us all daily. Three words we will never be without. LOVE.DEATH.BEAUTY.
BEFORE THE BRUISES.
Some were MOS EISLEY, with Steve Lamacq the first to see the potential. A first ever play for debut single ‘IT’S THEM...BLAST EM’ and an album of the week accolade. Then came the great John Peel and two memorable sessions at Maida Vale. “In my opinion, exactly how a record should sound”. Some were THE MOTORETTES, with successful tours and then sessions at XFM and 6 Music. All of this was good, but something was missing. We were waiting to find it. And then it came. LOVE BITES AND BRUISES.
TO THE WALL.
We are LOVE BITES AND BRUISES. We are Robin Howe (sings, guitar), Jack Laidlaw (sings, bass), Pete Moffat (sings, guitar) and Tom Skilbeck (sings, drums). We spend our nights in Room 15, in an endless quest to justify the words on the wall. There will always be changes in the music industry. There will always be changes in collective taste. One thing, however, will never change.... the power of LOVE.DEATH.BEAUTY. Its influence penetrates deeper than mere statement. It is not just written on the wall, it is written in each and every one of us. It is written in each and every one of you.
Our music will be loud but it will never be noise. At times it will be sharp, at others manifold, but it will never be stupid and it will always be sincere. It will hold its head high amongst its peers, safe in the belief that its reason for existence transcends the mundane. It will nod its head respectfully towards what has gone before, but it will stand apart, independent of its influences. It will shiver with intensity at every turn. It will burn to the touch. And, most importantly of all..... It will be ours. It will be yours. It will be true.
