TUNE Mother (Oxford) - Pretty Face
REVIEW FROM LISTEN WITH MONGER
Oxford noiseniks Mother are a visceral and vital band judging on my first encounter with the quartet; new single ‘Pretty Face’. There’s a desperation and raw sexuality to the snarling guitars and barely controlled vocals screaming out from the corners of your nightmares. Reminiscent of Velcro Hooks, an edgier Vampire Weekend or Hot Hot Heat, Mother ride high on a churning and rutting rhythm section embellished with glitter, velvet trousers and all of the best spirits from the top shelf. This is dark, mischievous stuff that sounds like the uncontrollable soundtrack swirling around your head during a rampant fever. Sexy, dangerous and dark – just the way I like my women.
