TUNE Pin Ups - Lunar Lines
Lunar Lines is taken from Pin Ups' 'Home Demos' collection.
The 'Home Demos' EP is a collection of 8 DIY recordings done at various studios/basements/kitchen tables spanning from 2014 to now. With the obvious interruption that COVID 19 has caused, leaving Jesse and Louis in Norfolk and Josh in Cornwall, the band felt this could be the perfect time to release this collection of material they've had sat on hard drives for the past few years collecting (virtual) dust. Acting as a bit of a timeline, the 8 songs each snapshot of a time or place over the last 5 years, some from before Pin Ups even existed, all recorded with a DIY ethos. Featuring early versions of previously released singles (You Make Me Feel So Sick, Lunchtime), reworks (Do You Hate Yourself Yet?, Turning Japanese) and a selection of unheard songs that we feel had to be heard, the EP has given the band a way to continue sharing music despite their personal isolation.
Noticing so much great art being produced by their friends during lockdown, Pin Ups decided to run a competition alongside the release for independent artists to submit artwork based on the song titles, and a short 30 second snippet of each song. Initially intended to simply entertain their close friends and local creatives, the competition ended up spreading across the country and even out to Netherlands, garnering an amazing collection of artwork to compliment the recordings. Check out the 'pinupsxyou' highlight on their Instagram to see all the submitted pieces.
