TUNE Atlas Genius - Trojans
Atlas Genius are Adelaide brothers, Keith and Michael Jeffery, and Trojans is the first song they wrote together having earned enough money to build a home studio, earning their dues as a covers band. Performing tunes by the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Police with their band around the city centre fine-tuned the Jeffery brothers as live performers, and with the studio completed, Atlas Genius were born.
Quickly producing and uploading their first song Trojans onto the Triple J Unsigned website and Soundcloud, Atlas Genius quickly found themselves in the eye of a storm. US blog Neon Gold picked up on them immediately via an Australian unsigned website, and the song’s attention sky-rocketed. The influence of Death Cab For Cutie, particularly the vocal and lyrical delivery of Ben Gibbard are self-evident, but Atlas Genius’ natural ear for melody and spirit recalls Beck too. Sharp and direct, Trojans has already found itself a home on US Alternative radio where it’s become a staple, and its received early spins on Radio 1 as Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Hype’ record.
