Formed in late 2017 and hailing from Cardiff, Red Telephone combine the experimental ethos of British psychedelia with a wide array of modern influences to create an ambitious and exciting sound. The band’s first four singles have received enthusiastic support and airplay from DJs such as Steve Lamacq, Amy Lame, Huw Stephens, Gideon Coe, Janice Long, Bethan Elfyn, Adam Walton, Frankie Francis, Jim Gellatly and Charlie Ashcroft; with comparisons to the likes of Suede, MGMT, Syd Barrett, St Vincent and T-Rex being drawn. They played FOCUS Wales Festival in May 2018 on the BBC Broadcast Stage in what was only their third gig at the time and were singled out off the back of it as “having the potential to soundtrack a generation" by Drowned in Sound. Their second single ‘Victoria Park’ was released on Libertino Records’ Ghost Disco singles club. Having played Tallinn Music Week 2019 and FOCUS Wales 2019, they released a double a-side 7” vinyl through Popty-Ping Records on 13th December 2019.
