TUNE Jackie Charles - Dominikas Song
Jackie Charles releases new single ‘Dominikas Song’ via Mothermorning on 19th April, taken from their forthcoming album ‘Future Fantasies’ (also 19th April).
Jackie Charles is the love-child, band and alter-ego of Kaja Bremnes. The band’s song writing combines the 1980s goth angst, with nihilism and heartbreaking vulnerability.
Opening with dreamy guitars, the reflective track has multiple voices delivering airy backing vocals to match the instrumental that floats and swells with momentum. “’Dominikas Song’ sits right on the edge between standstill and going ahead. With a friendly nudge, it’s egging you on to stop over thinking and utilise the vessel that is your body. The song is a manifesto against perfectionism and planning ahead. The waltz-like quality and the guitar that drips and twinkles draws you into an uplifting sense of advance.”
A washed out, hallucinogenic quality permeates with album, with brutally honest lyrics concealed beneath sugary sweet melodies. This is the perfect Spring soundtrack for those with more than nihilistic tendencies.
Jackie Charles will play The Islington London on 19th April. More TBA.
