TUNE MIEN - Earth Moon
MIEN release new single ‘Earth Moon’ via Rocket Recordings on 6th April, taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘MIEN’ (also 6th April).
MIEN (pronounced Meen) is comprised of Alex Mass (The Black Angels), Tom Furse (The Horrors), Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone) and John-Mark Lapham (The Earlies).
The seeds were sown for this collaboration as long as 2004, when Rishi Dhir found himself in a chance encounter with Black Angels’ front man Alex Mass whilst performing sitar with his former band at SXSW. Not long afterwards, he would discover The Earlies, who he would similarly collaborate and share a stage with. This led to essentially the genesis of MIEN, via the shared love for one song - the ‘classic sitar banger’ ‘Wantin’ Ain’t Gettin’’ by The Association.
Some years later, another piece of the puzzle came into place, when Dhir began sharing several bills with The Horrors. Thus he made the acquaintance of Tom Furse with a pact to work together in the future. Soon, the four planets of the MIEN universe were to align and the chemistry between these four figures would manifest amidst a kaleidoscopic series of atmospheres and excursions whereby song writing of the golden age of 60’s psychedelia is transmitted into a transcendental realm above and beyond the second decade of the 21st century.
