The Glitch Country EP2018
Milk Kan releases new EP ‘The Glitch Country’ via Blang Records on 11th May. Blaggers, chancers and urban poets Milk Kan create a new sound with their new EP ‘The Glitch Country’. This mixture of southern gothic hip hop and English folk narratives casts a spell somewhere in the shadow of New Weird Britain, US southern rap and country music. ‘The Glitch Country’ or drill blues sound incorporates the dark noise-scapes of witch house alongside trap beats. This fusion with dark synths are layered against lap steel guitar, rapid snare rolls and distorted bass lines. ‘My Baby’s Gone Viral on the Brain’ drags itself somewhere between the ancient and the modern. Online viral obsessions sit along ‘Dante and bass’ and collide in the shadow of the internet. ‘Nikes and Nandos’ is a cry to a lost generation while ‘Up Brixton Hill Revisited’ looks at characters dancing towards their doom in a newly gentrified corner of London.
