TUNE Phobophobes - Where Is My Owner?
Phobophobes release new single ‘Where Is My Owner?’ via Ra-Ra Rok Records on 10th November taken from forthcoming debut album ‘Miniature World’ (also 10th November).
The transition from DIY basement aesthetic to bona fide recording outfit manifests, with twinkling organ flourishes spread eagled over lo-fi drums. Jamie Taylor’s guttural drawl leads into a dark, stomping march heralding a very 21st century ennui. His wry refrain of “Where is my owner? I thought that I came with one,” a tongue-in-cheek rallying cry to absolute listlessness, inescapable as it is.
Their influences are widespread and atypical with, the music closer to the spirit of apocalyptic garage rock than it is to consumer pop - think Wall of Voodoo, The Birthday Party via Monty Python and The Magic Roundabout.
Phobophobes will play Corsica Studios London on 3rd October. More dates TBA.
