TUNE Sherwood & Pinch - Stand Strong
‘Stand Strong’ released 09/02/2015 is the first single taken from Sherwood & Pinch’s debut album ‘Late Night Endless’ released via On-U Sound / Tectonic Recordings.
The album is an intergenerational meeting of minds, with dub stalwart Adrian Sherwood producer to the dub-industrial-electro collective that was On-U Sound, which emerged from a fertile 80’s post-punk scene that was embracing Jamaican rhythms. In his capacity as a DJ and live sound engineer/dub controller, he connected with the likes of The Clash, The Slits, Pil and The Pop Group. Early releases on On-U Sound fused these influences into unique sonic shapes, resulting in truly radical records from the likes of Dub Syndicate, Tackhead, New Age Steppers and more. Still sounding fresh today, these are firmly acknowledged influences on figure likes Kode9, Carl Craig, Mala, Andrew Weatherall and - most relevantly - a young man called Rob Ellis, AKA Bristol-based dubstep fusion producer Pinch.
After Rob invited Adrian to play at a Tectonic takeover at London’s Fabric, Adrian returned the favour by inviting him to his studio. The two minds instantly clicked and it wasn’t long before 2 limited edition 12” EPs surfaced ‘Bring Me Weed’ and ‘Music Killer’, plus an invitation for a joint set at Sonar Tokyo in April last year.
Live: 29.01 Panorama Bar, Berlin / 11.02 Ramsgate Music Hall / 12.02 @ Marble Factory, Bristol plus more tbc. ‘Late Night Endless’ is released 9th February.
