TUNE Shopping - Straight Lines
Shopping release new single ‘Straight Lines’ on 25th September via FatCat, ahead of new album ‘Why Choose’ (2nd Oct) and is backed by B-side ‘Hanover Cure’ (Man With Feathers Remix).
Formed in East London in 2012 by members Rachel Aggs (guitar), Billy Easter (bass) and Andrew Milk (drums), Shopping released debut album ’Consumer Complaints’ November 2013 on their own Milk Records. The LP drew a flurry of press for their spot-on driving of post-punk’s driving force, seeing them dubbed a “band you need to hear” by NME and “Artist To Watch” by SPIN. On their brilliant new album ‘Why Choose?’, their debut for FatCat, the band teamed up with James Grier (Animal Collective, Japandroids) at Glasgow’s Green Door Studios. There’s a slightly darker undertone to the new record, as the band relate “mostly we are singing about rejections, frustration, fighting, fleeting relationships, wasting time and losing money, but there is also a kind of wildness and fun.”
Shopping support Ought at Village Underground, London (1st Sept), Deaf Institute, Manchester (2nd Sept) and Hare & Hounds, Moseley (3rd Sept). Then support ESG at Fiddlers Club, Bristol (24th Sept) and Oval Space, London (26th Sept) before heading on an American tour with Shannon and The Clams.
