TUNE Something Leather - Velvet
Something Leather releases new single ‘Velvet’ via We Can Do It on 16th August.
Hailed as one of the most exciting new bands on the Brighton music scene, Something Leather’s new single ‘Velvet’ is a swirl of electric organs and gloomy guitar licks, accompanied by crashing cymbals and even church bells. With moody yet mystical vocals, ‘Velvet’ is a sneering, cynical track about love and fantasy - chasing it one moment before discarding it the next. In a short space of time, the band have secured support slots with a multitude of bands including Black Midi, Phobophobes, Saint Agnes and JOHN.
Their beloved 70’s Philips organ is fixed up with old parts of front woman Phillie’s grandmother’s first colour TV, giving them an authentic sound with real character. Along with a bass organ adding to the trio’s dark haunting sound, eerie, untamed guitar comes on Greg on a Baritone and relentless rhythmical beats from Mike on drums ties everything up perfectly with an explosive live show to match.
Something Leather will play: Moth Club London (29th June) and Hope & Ruin Brighton (6th July).
“The band’s rise is a triumph of DIY, with their barbed snarling sound the product of their own imaginations.” - CLASH
