TUNE Honey Gentry - Daydream Baby
‘Daydream Baby’ delivers a story of heartbreak and betrayal atop driving acoustic and shimmering vintage electric guitar, where tinges of Americana marry idiosyncratic art pop in Gentry’s most impressive and artistic work to date.
‘Daydream Baby’ is the first single taken from the London maven’s upcoming second EP Dreamlover expected July 2019, and is a reflection on dealing with a painful experience by turning it into legend - daydreaming not only about the lover but the way the relationship ends. Gentry applies her signature reflective rose-tinted lyrical style in order to separate the listener from the raw, honest pain of a messy, human breakup. “By acting out a breakup, it’s like you're acting it out in a movie.” she offers on the single. ‘Daydream Baby’ takes inspiration from songs of the 1960s such as Barbara Lewis' ‘Baby I'm Yours’ and Skeeter Davis' ‘End of the World’; songs that address very real human emotion and pain via dramatic metaphors evoking destruction and termination.
