TUNE The Ninth Wave - This Broken Design
The Ninth Wave share their new single and video for ‘This Broken Design’ and release the first instalment of their two-part debut album ‘Infancy’.
Shot by critically acclaimed filmmaker Bryan. M Ferguson, the other-worldly new visual for ‘This Broken Design’ draws influence from the Brutalist movement and follows an ill-fated mime as he meets his maker in front of a crowd of faceless spectators. The video shoot made the news in Scotland as the crew warned residents of Almada Street, Hamilton of the gory scene about to take place.
Speaking about the track, frontman Haydn Park-Patterson says: “There’s a few key themes that run throughout the whole album, with this song itself being about trying to find comfort in faces I didn’t know, but not really managing to get away from that and having to deal with a constant reminder of a person I’d rather try and forget.”
The release of ‘This Broken Design’ coincides with ‘Infancy Pt. I’, the first instalment of The Ninth Wave’s two-part debut album. The band have recently garnered support from the likes of BBC News, Noisey and NME, as well as continued support from national radio. Currently, the band are on a European tour alongside The Blinders, which will be followed by slots at The Great Escape and another European tour alongside YONAKA.
With critical acclaim and an impeccable reputation on the live circuit both nailed, it’s only a matter of time before The Ninth Wave permeate the mainstream and cement their position as one of the British music scene’s brightest new prospects.
‘Infancy Pt. I’ is out now on Distiller Records, while ‘Pt. II’ will be released on November 15.
