TUNE Spring In A Small Town - Compassion
The floating electronica of Spring In A Small Town is a celebration of the chronologies and memories embedded within the woodland and provincial villages of Kent. Growing up in the countryside, producer George Cloke developed a deep connection to the local landscape and folklore: “It’s a liminal space: mundane yet magical, tied to heritage and myth, shaped and reformed through a collective misremembering of an idealised past”.
His debut album will be released on May 15 via Tokyo based electronic label Flau, with earnings from the release going to Human Appeal's Coronavirus Emergency Appeal, local charity Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees and Japanese food bank Second Harvest.
Spring's music sits between the exploratory sampling of Gold Panda and the upbeat soundscapes of Jon Hopkins and Caribou. Engaging with themes of memory, nature and community, the record sets out to capture the distinct rhythms of rural life without falling into the trappings of sepia-tinged nostalgia.
