Hitchin based musician James Bay was a no brainer for our Tips For 2015 list. Back in 2012 we were suitably impressed with debut upload When We Were On Fire, enough to add it to our playlist, and we’ve kept a keen ear on him ever since.
In the past six months alone James has seen an incredible - much deserved - rise in his widespread popularity. From a busy festival season, a lengthy tour across the USA, daytime support from BBC Radio 1 and more dates on home soil (sold out no less), it’s no surprise to us that he’s been chosen as a Brit Award Critics Choice nominee.
Given that we’re such big fans, James was an obvious choice for a stripped back session whilst at Beacons Festival this summer, the video from which has fast become one of our most viewed. Check out the incredible version of Scars, performed acoustically for the very first time, just for us. The track took over two years to write, and is clearly very close to James’ heart. It now has a pretty special place in ours too.
Check out 'Scars' from James, as well as another couple of tunes from Beacons this year
