The Austins were formed in 2006 originally to play covers of Americana and Alt. Country artists such as Ryan Adams, The Jayhawks & Wilco along with classics from The Stones, Neil Young and Tom Petty.
The band quickly found it’s feet and soon started writing it’s own original material. A three track demo was recorded in Chem 19 in Hamilton in early 2007. This secured gigs around the Glasgow and Lanarkshire circuit and also received some airplay on a number of radio shows including XFM.
After a couple of changes in line up and a short break The Austins are now back to full strength and have been writing and rehearsing in OneEyeDog studios. The band have been playing around the Glasgow and Lanarkshire area over the past few months including The Vale, Fir Park Club, McCuills and 13th Note. A new e.p. has been recorded and is currently in production for imminent release, with future gigs being arranged – watch this space!
The current line-up consists of: -
Colin Suttie – Vocals and guitar, Iain Wright – Guitar, John Hanley – Guitar, Sandy Mercer – Bass , Rab Campbell –Drums
Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, The Jayhawks, Wilco
