TUNE Rival Karma - Chemical Courage
Originally formed in London during 2013, Rival Karma began as a four piece till later splitting in June of 2017. After a rethink a reshuffle and a refocus Martin and PJ adapted and with the aim to honour previously booked dates, after testing the power duo reshuffle, it became clear that less is more and they toured across France, Switzerland, and Italy. They recently toured the West coast of America with Sofar Sounds, from Phoenix to Seattle and also performed live in the legendary Abbey Road Studios.
Hailing from London, two piece Martin William Ross (Guitar and Vocals) and PJ Ciarla (Drums) embody the inebriating melancholic vibes of London’s city streets and cleverly combine them with the strong overtones of gritty and dirty American Rock. Channeling the less is more vibe of best from stripped-back hard-rock, alt-rock, indie-rock and all points between, Martin and PJ succeed in conjuring up a sound that is devilishly focused and spellbinding-ly unique.
The debut EP was recorded at Fish Factory Studio in London, working alongside producer Sam Miller (Temperance Movement, Earache Records, Razorlight, VANT, Paloma Faith, Olly Murs). The band’s striking neo psychedelic artwork is by Miami graphic designer Lola Blu (Quest Love, Anderson .Paak). Rival Karma have created their own genre ‘Ninja Rock’, which has been described by Tap The Feed as a blend of blues, infused by stoner rock and southern rock, with each song crammed with killer riffs, wildly dynamic drumming and vocals combining just the right amount of grit and smoothness.
