TV FACE, a DIY, post-punk trio from Lancaster are set to release their new single ‘Requeen The Hive’ on 30th October. ‘Requeen The HIve’ is the focus track from the EP of the same name which will feature their 4 most recent singles from Sept, Oct, Nov and December 2020. ‘Requeen The Hive’ - the single is slated to impact RADIO 11th December 2020.
‘Requeen The Hive’ is the lead track/focus release from their 3rd 4 track EP of 2020 and follows their September 25 single, ‘No, No, No, No, No’.
Formed in early 2019, and consisting of sTeVe (vocals/guitar), Brigit (bass/vocals) and Neil (drums), the band called TV FACE are called TV FACE because sTeVe has a childhood memory of finding a smashed-up TV on a military firing range in Scotland, and being blown away by seeing its insides. He’s been obsessed with TVs and other electrical doodahs ever since. The name is also fitting, as Brigit loves putting her face in front of the TV instead of looking directly at the world outside, and because according to the band, none of them have faces for TV.
TV FACE embarked on a project to release a single on the last Friday of every month during 2020, and despite the pandemic, the band have continued unabated with the monthly release project. Each single has been recorded and produced by the band, in a variety of DIY locations, including cellars, bedrooms and cupboards under the stairs. The singles will be compiled into three, limited edition, four track CD EPs released in April, August and December, with screen-printed artwork designed by sTeVe, and handmade by the band. This cycle comes to an end with their 3rd and Final EP of 2020 released on 25th December, featuring their September 25th and October 30th singles, ‘No No No No No’ and ‘Requeen The Hive’, as well as their upcoming November 27th and December 25th singles, ‘New Anatomies’ and ‘You Were Just An Accident’.
Describing their sound as “angular musical missives about things like potato salad and urban planning”, The band have hints of pioneers of the scene such as Sonic Youth and The Fall in their sound, but also have injections of modern influences from current bands such as Sports Team and Squid. Of ‘Requeen The Hive’, bassist Brigit commented, ‘It’s a song about inept and self serving bees/people in power. We know who’s got the honey. The queen is dead, long live the queen!’
