The People The Poet self-released their critcally acclaimed debut concept album "The Narrator", inspired by real life stories sent into the band by their fans in 2013. The Narrator was produced by Todd Campbell, Gil Norton (Sing & Molly Drove Me Away) and Pete Miles (Not For Now).
Successful tours with Straight Lines and Deaf Havana followed in 2014 which also included Summer festival appearances at Latitude Festvai (handpicked by BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens), Hay Festival and Swn Festival. 2014 also saw the band get picked to become one of the BBC Horizons 12 music scheme. The Narrator was nominated for the Welsh Music Prize and the year finished off with live sessions at BBC Maida Vale Studios.
In March 2015 the band were invited to perform at the world famous SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Whilst there BBC Radio 2 DJ Dermot O' Leary was so impressed by their performance he invited them to do a live acoustic session for BBC Radio 2 at SXSW. This lead to another acoustic session for BBC Radio 2 when the band got back home but this time on the Jeremy Vine show at Hay Festival.
Early 2015 saw the band head to Monnow Valley Studios to start work on their next release
