Boomerang is a small and haunting collection of love songs, self-produced in Thom's wind-battered studio, deep in the mountains of Co.Kerry, Ireland. It was written and recorded in a 2 week burst of activity earlier this year. There are old pianos, rusty string quartets, booming cellos, ancient spanish guitars. There is the wind howling at the studio door, the endless driving rain on the windows and it’s all sewn together rather splendidly with Thom’s natural pop sensibility. We hear echoes of Richard Hawley, Leonard Cohen, Lennon/McCartney and Jeff Buckley.
His skills and flair as a multi-instrumentalist and producer have enabled him to single-handedly create large ensemble arrangements from the isolation of his home studio - some kind of hermitage for the brokenhearted. This is late night music at its best.
Thom's E.P. "Boomerang" is available to buy now. His first full length record is scheduled for a 2015 release.
